I can’t remember the last time I felt this way about a band. Usually its pretty simple…step 1 – Listen to a few songs step2 – decide whether to invest more time to the band or delete them from my computer and proceed to talk trash about them. My Morning Jacket is a special case. Some of their music is mediocre and to be honest, a little annoying. Other stuff completely comes out of left field and blows my mind. Either way, I saw them at Pemberton Music Festival in 2008 and decided to keep them in my regular rotation…their live show is something else. A few years ago at Bonnaroo Music Festival they took the stage for 4 hours…pumping out a thirty-five song set which included covers of songs by Erykah Badu, Kool and the Gang, Sly and the Family Stone, James Brown, Velvet Underground and Motley Crue.
